Minimalist Commercial Office Building - El Paso, Texas
James Easton, AIA NCARB, Design Architect, in the employ of Butler Design Group - Phoenix, Arizona
Principal - Elk River Studio - Steamboat Springs, Colorado
This project began with an existing bank building on the West side of El Paso, Texas. The building was purchased by a Retail Development company to be re-designed into their new corporate office building. The Architect was asked to travel to El Paso to evaluate the structure and propose a solution. The concept by the Architect involved keeping the concrete structure of the building and weaving the new construction in and around the existing frame. Rough cut limestone, mild steel, glass, rainscreen cladding and river rock combine to create a rich material palette. Interior spaces are functionally aligned for business performance. The Architect was sensitive to existing landscape features, colors and textures to blend the building and site.
