Minimalist Residence - Renovation - Tempe, Arizona

James Easton, AIA NCARB, Architect

Principal - Elk River Studio - Steamboat Springs, Colorado

The Architect designed this minimalist home for a large family.  The interior space is open plan, spanning over thirty feet in both directions.  The Architect carefully calculated exposed, structural glu-lam beams to carry the roof.  A rich Architectural material palette of rough cut wood, mild steel, board formed concrete, smooth stucco, glass, slump block and collected rainfall create harmony in this space.  The functional needs of this family are given a place in daily life.  All drawings are done with Revit by the Architect.  Floor plans and rendering are derived from the same model.  The renderings are exact in scale, proportion and perspective.  Light sources are computer rendered to create photo-realistic illustrations of the possibility of the space.
